What makes a great website versus one that shows up on the Top 5 Worst Website Design Fails list? Gone are the days when a business would advertise in the Yellow Pages and wait for clients to contact them. As a small business owner you have to put up some type of a website, right? A good website design may be subjective to describe but what we can agree on is what a bad website design looks like. Let’s take a look at some of the more comically bad sites. (I’m protecting the identities of the innocent but if you are reading this and own one of these sites, PLEASE contact either myself or another website design company immediately. 🙂 )
Each one of the sites below is epic for all the wrong reasons. Enjoy the Top 5 Worst Website Design Fails EVER! 🙂
Bad Website Design Fails #1
Starting our Top 5 Worst Website Design Fails list is this beauty pictured below. This screen shot doesn’t even give you the full perspective of the 3 feet of tan columns on each side of the content. Nothing on this page is something you would want your site to look like. Collages of images, videos, links and advertisements all crammed into the center of the page is a recipe for catching a visual flu bug. This website owner’s passion should instead be to fix, Fix, FIX her website!
Bad Website Design Fails #2
Our next contestant on the Top 5 Worst Website Design Fails list hails from a well known university technology program. This site was perhaps more shocking than the first site on our list. The first reason is that it is produced by a technology program at a university and that they allowed this page to be out on the web. Next, the tiled background images were videos being looped every 5 seconds. As if the videos were not enough, the crazy column placement, terrible colors and for an added bonus, a picture of guy with a bucket on his head added to the flair of this horrible site.
Bad Website Design Fails #3
Our third contestant on the Top 5 Worst Website Design Fails list is just flat out creepy. One look at this hotel’s website and you will for sure be hitting the browser back button. Cheesy, weird and perhaps scary? What immediately comes to mind is the Bates Motel (or hotel in this case).
Bad Website Design Fails #4
Coming in at number 4 on the Top 5 Worst Website Design Fails list is my runner up for the grand prize. How bad can a design get? Take at look at this. What is going on here? What do they sell? Apparently anything and everything. If you could somehow equate a hoarder to a website design, this site would be it. Good luck to anyone trying to shop on this site.
Bad Website Design Fails #5
Coming in at number 5 on the Top 5 Worst Website Design Fails list is our grand champion. The screen shot provided again does not do this site justice. I could not believe the amount of animations (every image of the guy was a GIF of him wavering back and forth), videos (see the column of the woman on the right), and explosion of color. It took quite a long time for the page to load but when it did, it was pure chaos. The video was extremely weird and had nothing to do with the sale or leasing of vehicles. It was in fact placed there on purpose as the woman eventually holds up a sign with the dealerships name on it. So for all of those reasons, I present to you your champion!
